How to Estimate Painting Jobs

One of the hardest things I had to learn over the years was how to estimate painting jobs. I ate many a job in the early days out of fear. I also left money on the table by "working by the hour". Since those days I have become very bold in my estimating due to having a precision estimating system.

My system is so good that I have can make as much as $400 in a single day if the job is right. Right now I'm doing an exterior trim job for $3400. In the early days I would have charged about $700 for the same job. I love bringing new painters up to speed quickly when it comes to advertising and estimating.

This is mainly because I make good money at it. But I guess I do take pride in seeing a new house painter get $4000 out of a job instead of a measly $1200. These painters have families to support also and they need all the help they can get when it comes to how to estimate painting jobs.
