How I Stop Bleed-Thru Stains Fast
Using latex paint is the best and easiest way to paint in most cases. But when it comes to bleed-thru stains you can paint all day and you won't get rid of a stain. In most cases stains bleed right through latex paint.
For exterior painting most painters use an oil-base quick-dry primer. For inside stains like ink or anything else that bleeds through latex paint I used to use Bin in the spray can. It is quick drying.
But now days I use a product that kills two birds with one stone. I use Krylon Fusion. It dries super fast, sticks to everything really well, etc.
I use it on the plastic beauty rings of recessed lighting and wall-mounted register covers mainly. But it also makes a great stain-blocker for stopping bleed-throughs of stains on walls and ceilings.
You just cover the area you need to spray around really well (mainly the floor) and then spot-prime. I like to do two coats. I zap the stain once, wait 10 minutes and then I hit it again. Now it can be painted without any worries about bleed-thru or flashing.
