Hey, you've come to the right place - Read on Baby! My name is Lee Cusano and I have been a self-employed house painter for about 15 years now.
My wife helps me and we make good money. Whole lots better than I used to make working a “McJob”.
I didn't get much sleep this last Sunday night because I stayed up too late, so I took Monday off. Tuesday was my wife's birthday so we took Tuesday off too!
But it was all good anyway. The project that we are currently on is a brand new home way out in the sticks and carpet was being laid on those two days anyway.
So we didn't want to get in their way and my wife (bless her heart) told the owners' wife that we might take those two days off a week earlier.
I was cool up in the crib. Jammin' on my guitar, surfin' the net, cat-nappin, etc. I don't have to worry about the money either because the bid on that job was for almost $4,000 for a month long job.
We're lucky if we put in 30 hours a week. The longer we paint the better it seems to get. If we do outside jobs, they are always in the shade. I like ranch-style homes that are brick-sided and only need the windows, doors and over-hangs painted.
I like the sold-body stain jobs too though. It's always latex paint so it's easy wash up.
We stay busy all year long even at Thanksgiving through Christmas time. (I learned a little secret for that.)
One year at Christmas time we had an extra $1,800.00 because of a side job we we're doing at an Investment company. We had a big old office area that was empty that they wanted to move into and all we did was clean up the wallpaper and did some minor painting and slight drywall repair.
I'm not bragging (yes I am), I'm just trying to let you know that you can do it too! I've also helped many others with my book "How To Paint Like A Pro".
