How To Bid Painting Jobs
The biggest reason someone loses money on a painting job is due to under bidding. Eating your jobs will quickly put stress in your life.
I like to enjoy my work and when the money is there I can relax and have fun with it. Plus, it's a whole lot easier to go down in your bid than to try to go up later on if you decide you didn't charge enough.
If they want to get another bid, fine. Let them. You still could get the job anyway. Besides, if you are the cheapest, you may not get the job because you are the cheapest.
Some people will take the "in between bid". Most people want someone who knows what they are doing. Having specialized knowledge as a painter helps a lot. Your customers will see that you have confidence in yourself.
When I first started doing estimates I was truly green. I didn't have any idea what I was doing. Fortunately I started out on a good footing.
After a while I began to get bigger jobs and I didn't take the time to "count the cost". I mean if you will get alone on a project after the customer tells you what they want painted and really "think" about how long it will really take to do the necessary prep work, and painting in both "DAYS AND WEEKS" you can do a pretty accurate bid.
Also, a lot of painters get scared about the bid price they are estimating as being too expensive. But the simple truth is, a lot of customers won't appreciate the job as much if it's too cheap. They won't feel like they are getting true quality.
Plus, If it's a more expensive job, they may want to impress you that they CAN afford it. To get your nerve up just say to yourself "I just don't care" and it will alleviate some of the stress.
If you are experienced or have the know-how to do a good job you will automatically have the confidence you need to bid like a pro.
I can go into a house and pretty accurately tell just how long it will take to do a kitchen, living room, bathroom etc. The same thing goes for exterior work. I can pretty accurately judge just how long it will take to do a section or a side or front of a home.
My eBook "How To Paint Like A Pro" can give you the confidence and edge you need to do an estimate and paint someone’s house inside or outside. My 15 years of experience as a commercial/residential house painter can help you to quickly get your painting business up and running successfully as quickly as THIS WEEK!
